In the last episode of our vlog we talked about HOST DEV and its use as a Try&Buy product, i.e. having the opportunity to try our service for free before deciding to purchase a Hosting profile.

However, the advantages of HOST DEV do not only concern the possibility of testing the service, assistance and infrastructure for free. HOST DEV was created to give all our customers the opportunity to have a real development laboratory for the creation of web projects.

What is a development environment for? Creation of new web projects If you create websites for your clients, you will certainly have had to make proposals and then submit them to the client for approval. Having a development environment, completely free, allows you to develop the website without any cost of domain registration or purchase of a hosting plan, submit it to the customer and then, once approved, proceed with the registration of the definitive domain and purchase of the hosting profile best suited to the needs of the project.

Changes to existing websites Let's say instead that you take on the management of the modification or redesign of an existing site. This type of work presupposes having to dismantle the old version of the site to create a new one. The development environment allows you to create, edit and redesign an entire website, without having to take the previous version offline while waiting for the new version to be approved.

Let's see together how Application Manager works for the transition from HOST DEV to a production Hosting profile:

Place an order for the hosting profile to which you want to move your developing website

From the Customer Area go to "Hosting Management" of the purchased hosting

Click on Application Manager – CMS (and select the application you wish to use on the site in production – WordPress, Joomla, etc…)

Click on the "Import – From Remote Server" function

Fill in the required information Domain Name (the one used in your HOST DEV "vostrodominio.sviluppo.host" )

Host Name (ftp.yourdomain.sviluppo.host)

Enter the Host Dev FTP credentials (username + password) and the directory where you want to install the site in production (e.g. /public.html)

Click on IMPORT and the import process will start automatically

How many HOST DEV profiles can I create? From your customer area you have the possibility to activate unlimited HOST DEV profiles to test, develop and experiment with your web projects!

What is the lifespan of a HOST DEV used as a development environment? The duration of HOST DEV profiles used as a free development environment for your websites is always 180 days. You therefore have 6 months available to design from scratch, recreate, modify, carry out update tests... everything before moving on to the final version of your web project.
