Discover the world of .it domains!

All registered domains are contained in a registry called Registry. This Registry is not responsible for directly registering new domains on behalf of users because it is the task of specific companies, such as JoomlaHost and Dnshosting, called Registrars who offer services of all levels and prices. In other words, a Registrant is simply a customer or company that decides to purchase a domain. This Registrant will rely on a company, called Registrar, to register their domain. Once the domain has been registered, it will be included in the Italian Registry containing all domains with the .it extension.

To register a domain you can use from 3 to 63 alphanumeric characters, the "-" (minus) symbol and accented characters, introduced on 11 July 2012 such as "pubblicità.it"

When registering with JoomlaHost or Dnshosting, a code is assigned, called Authinfo, which uniquely identifies the domain name. This code is essential, very important and strictly personal.

The Registrar and the webmaster are required to communicate this code to the Registrant in the event that he wishes to carry out operations such as transferring the domain between one Registrar and another, changing the owner of the domain or other operations.

In the event that the Registrar refuses to communicate the authinfo to the Registrant, the contract stipulated with the registry.it may be terminated. We at JoomlaHost and Dnshosting, before providing the authinfo, carry out many checks on who requests this code, as there are many people who try to get hold of the codes by falsifying the requests or the identity of the Registrant.

The code can however be retrieved by the customer who purchased the product by logging into his customer area on our sites.

From 2008 to today, analyzing the annual graph of registered domains, there has been an increase of 70%.

This increase is also seen in cancellations, transfer changes, Registrar and Registrant changes, renewals and recoveries. Increases due to the increase in interest on the part of people in the world of the Web.

Domains have a well-defined life cycle:

Life cycle of Activated domains, they last 365 days. Once this period has expired, they can be recovered by the Registrant or by the owner of the web space within 10 days of their actual expiry. This period of time is called AutoRenewPeriod (time period of maximum 15 days immediately following domain expiration)

If they are not renewed, they go to the PendingDelete/RedemptionPeriod state. The only operation allowed will be recovery by the Registrar himself within 30 days.

Subsequently, the domains will go into deletion, i.e. PendingDelete/PendingDelete, which will last 5 days.

Once this process is finished, they will become available to be repurchased.

From 24 June 2013 it is possible to know in advance the date and time of cancellation of a domain: drop-time, the new procedure that allows you to access the lists of domains being canceled directly from our site.

Every day, at 1 am, the lists of domains in the pendingDelete/pendingDelete state are published and will be deleted the following day.
