I could talk for hours about how the speed of your website is fundamental for your business and delve deeper with data from studies carried out by the giants of the sector. However, in this short video I would like to give you 3 food for thought, which I hope are just the LA for an awareness of what could be a fundamental opportunity for your business in 2019 and in the years to follow:
Tip 1: Will it be your product?
Tip 2: A fast site will grow your numbers
Tip 3: The formula for making money
Will it be your product? Let's be clear: our users' expectations are growing day after day and web traffic from mobile has long surpassed desktop traffic. But above all, the purchasing decision is increasingly made from a mobile device.
In an increasingly fast and interconnected economy, companies that offer the worst user experience will be left behind. Point.
We can no longer talk about "my product is better than the competition" or "my customers don't buy online". Those times are gone.
I can guarantee you that at this exact moment your best customer is browsing some site on mobile and deciding whether or not to buy a product or service. Will it be your product?
A Fast Site Will Grow Your Numbers If you're like me, it's not enough for you to hear a stranger on the internet tell you how important this or that thing is, but you want to hear facts.
So here are 4 interesting case studies that make you think:
According to the DoubleClick by Google study, 53% of users abandon a site if it doesn't load within 3 seconds
Amazon measured a 1% drop in sales for every 100ms of additional wait, and for a company like Amazon, 1% could equate to millions
The Trainline company reduced the wait by 0.3s and saw an increase in their annual customer spend of $11.5 million
More generally, according to a report by Akamai, 1 second of waiting for the page to load corresponds to a 7% reduction in conversions
In other words, a fast site makes your numbers grow. Every year, studies are conducted that demonstrate the existence of a correlation between site speed and business metrics.
A faster site will not only guarantee an increase in visits in absolute terms, but above all longer visits: in other words, more time spent reading your copy!
A faster site will give an important boost to your conversions: just think of Alibaba (the largest online B2B commerce platform) which, in 2016, invested in Web Performance and recorded a 76% increase in conversions (!!!)
A faster site will improve all your metrics: In 2017, MakeMyTrip, India's leading transportation company, improved their site loading speed and saw an increase in conversions by 3X and sessions by 160%.
The Formula For Making Money So, why did I start this video by stating that improving your site speed could be the best way to boost your business in 2019?
Let's say Alice has a company, for which she dedicates an advertising budget to bring users to her site. Part of this traffic is converted into actual sales.
We said that if Alice's site was faster, more people would land on her site, these people would spend more time on average reading her copy and overall there would be more conversions.
To all this we must add the so-called organic traffic: so what is the formula?
$ = (paidTraffic + organicTraffic) * conversionRatio * price – adsCost
But in practice, what could Alice do to earn more?:
Increase your advertising budget to increase traffic
Increase the price of the product you sell
Increase your conversion rate and organic traffic simply by working on the speed of your site (as we have seen in the previous points).
By speeding up the website you would therefore have more profits because the conversion rate would be higher and you will have more traffic. This is certainly an excellent method because you would increase turnover without increasing the budget spent on advertising. If this isn't a formula for making money, I don't know what is!
In this video we have therefore seen 3 food for thought on how the speed of a website can be important for your business and I hope they have been useful to you.
I invite you, as always, to subscribe to our channel and activate the bell to be notified when we publish new content. Thanks and see you in the next video.
