Colt Academy is born: Joomla, WordPress and SEO courses, online and in the classroom

"The idea of ​​offering classroom courses dedicated to Joomla, with the aim of transmitting, disseminating and increasing knowledge of the open source CMS in Italy, was born in 2012", says Marco Mangione (CEO of Colt Engine). The need has gradually grown: classroom courses are aimed at a limited and very specific target, are organized over several days and have a higher cost which allows you to have equipped classrooms and highly trained teachers at your service.

"We thought of a way to reach a broader target that included users with multiple starting levels (from basic to advanced), who have less time and less financial resources to dedicate to a training course", continues Mangione. Thus was born the process of identifying various online portals that already provided the service with the formula "online courses" and, starting from the concept that "unity is strength", the negotiation was born for the acquisition of the Daimonet website network, which was already involved in producing online video courses dedicated to: Joomla, WordPress and SEO.

This acquisition process led to the birth of COLT ACADEMY, a new business unit that involves constant and continuous collaboration with Pascal Abatiello, creator of Daimonet and teacher of online video courses.

COLT ACADEMY and will manage, organize and promote new training products structured as follows:

Classroom courses, held by professional teachers focused on the use, at different levels, of the open source CMS Joomla. The course levels are divided as follows:

FULL BASE: The course is dedicated to those who want to learn the secrets of the Joomla!® CMS to set up the creation of a corporate or personal website correctly and on solid foundations.

BUSINESS: Joomla!® course dedicated to those who want to learn more and immediately put into practice specific Joomla!® CMS solutions to create and manage their own sites, with in-depth analysis and particular attention to the webmarketing part, positioning and visibility of the site on search engines.

DEVELOPER: Dedicated to all those who have a good knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS languages and want to delve deeper into the programming aspects of Joomla!®, understanding the concepts and secrets behind the creation of components, modules and plug-ins.

Online courses, delivered on 3 different websites, each with its specific target audience, and divided as follows:

WP COURSES: dedicated to those approaching the Word Press CMS for the first time and to those who want to learn how to use specific extensions and features of this CMS

JOOMLA COURSE: also divided into levels based on the user's initial knowledge of the CMS with various insights in a more advanced course

SEO CENTER: a single course made up of 120 video lessons that deal with SEO and positioning in Google search results.

Over the last 2 years (2013/2014), the Daimonet website network has had an average annual registration of over 1,500 users for all three online courses offered. For 2015 Colt Academy aims to develop the largest Italian training offer on Joomla and WordPress, also extending it to other areas such as SEO. The network of courses offered (online and in the classroom) will be the main gateway for the thousands of people in Italy who annually approach the two CMS for professional needs or personal interest.

The courses have so far been provided through a reserved teaching area present within each individual dedicated website, where the member has the possibility of following the lessons online 24 hours a day, downloading (where applicable) the videos for offline viewing, reading the support and update material, requesting a certificate of participation.

The Colt Academy work planned for 2015 will proceed in two directions:

Development in quality and variety of training offerings (online and in the classroom)

Increased knowledge of Joomla and WordPress through traffic on the colt.academy website where the individual courses offered for every need are explained.

From an educational point of view, new updated courses will be created that also respond to various levels of technical difficulty, in order to satisfy the requests of those approaching the world of CMS for the first time and, at the same time, respond to more specialized needs (developers, web masters...).

The new video courses created by Colt Academy will include a total of over 100 video lessons divided into 5 levels, both for Joomla and WordPress: starting from a basic level up to more specific topics relating to the security of a website and its performance. More specialized e-commerce courses, plugins and extensions will also be added to this package.

Since these are predominantly open source topics, Colt Academy does not want to lose sight of the Community's objective which is always to share knowledge. For this reason, the training package also includes the provision of free tutorials, in the form of mini videos and/or training articles, available to everyone on various channels: YouTube, Facebook, course websites, etc...

The Colt Academy project will boast an investment by Colt Engine of approximately €200,000 over the next 5 years, an important figure to point out because "for Colt Engine, a small Piedmontese business, the Colt Academy project represents an important investment in innovation, training and also in the creation of new jobs through the inclusion of highly qualified personnel to offer a high quality product", concludes Mangione.
