The Board of Open Source Matters, Inc. organized the "Forum for the Future" to allow the Community to work together to define the future strategy of the Joomla project.

As a Joomla volunteer and Board Secretary I was able to attend the event and work alongside the other 70 delegates.

It was not a conference, but a moment of discussion and brainstorming, in which the participants organized themselves into 4 groups (streams) and addressed different topics:

Professionalism – Increase the level of professionalism in the project.

Re-Ignite/Re-Engage – Increase the number of volunteers and their involvement

Technology – Analyze the technology stack used by the project and innovate it.

Market – Analyze Joomla's market position, conduct a SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and define KPIs.

The conference was structured to alternate group work sessions and plenary sessions to share ideas and progress.

From the first hours following the event, there was great excitement on the project's communication channels. Ideas, activities, new teams and volunteers who have started or resumed contributing.

Volunteers have a key role in Joomla, in fact for almost 15 years the project has been based exclusively on contributions from the Community and does not have large multinationals behind it.

Host had the opportunity to participate in the various streams and share his positions and ideas, aimed at improving Joomla.

Speaking of Communities, volunteers and Hosts, I invite you to stay tuned to our channels and to Joomla.it because news about JoomlaDay Italia 2020 will be available in the next few days.
