Where are we? Version 3 has definitively established itself and has surpassed version 2.5, confirming itself as the most used, as demonstrated by the pie chart below:

Joomla usage data - April 2016 The joomla® 3! has taken off. The new version is not calm but continues to grow month after month. This is a really important turning point as community support for version 2.5 ended last December 2014, which means that no more fixes or updates will be released, not even for security flaws.

For those who use a version prior to 3.x, JoomlaHost.it intends to have its customers maintain all versions of the CMS, without any forced migration operations, allowing planning for subsequent versions with complete peace of mind.

I advise all those who use versions such as 1.0-1.5.x- 1.6- 1.7 and 2.5.x since last January 2015 and for production sites to plan the migration towards version 3.5.1, which is currently stable.

It is important to remember that before any migration, it is essential to verify that the templates and components are compatible with the new installation and to always perform a preventive data backup so as to be able to immediately restore the contents of the website in the event that the operation fails.

I also advise you to test the migration in a test environment such as a third level (subdomain) of your domain or in a free try and buy hosting that you can activate by clicking on the activate now button, after logging in.
