Marco: The first question, so to speak, today the world is sick of speed, of performance, if a website doesn't open within a second, PANIC. So I ask you, does the performance of a website influence SEO so much and therefore how our site is positioned on search engines?

Giorgio: As far as Google is concerned, speed is certainly a very important aspect. Google is pushing hard to make sure that sites are increasingly faster, but not only for SEO reasons (which certainly has a small advantage in terms of site speed), but above all for the resources it saves. Imagine for all the sites that are indexed on Google what even a saving of 10KB per site could mean. For us, speed is certainly an advantage for customers. People who come to a site that is a little slower, these people leave the site and are unlikely to return. The belief that we often hear about "if a user wants to buy, he buys anyway" is completely false. SEO comes later, I have never worried about web performance for SEO but for users.

Marco: At HOST we are web performance maniacs and we have created SPEED, a free tool that allows you not to measure but also to improve, thanks to an integrated coach, did you know it?

Giorgio: I didn't know this last feature, but I know the tool. All these tools that give advice on how to improve web performance are very interesting. There are tools that only show you the data, but it is sometimes necessary to receive detailed advice on what to do to improve that data. Furthermore, the interesting thing for your SPEED is that it scans on Italian connectivity.

Marco: Since you were talking about connectivity and therefore Italian data centers, in your opinion can Hosting influence web performance?

Giorgio: It depends, it's a very broad topic. The problem can exist when there are many sites on the same IP address. In this case the problem is that Google has limited requests per single IP address. If there are many, perhaps large, sites under the same IP address, you may experience slowdowns. As regards hosting, we must pay particular attention to who we are not only for a question of resources but above all because Google is very interested in who our "neighbors" are, for example for the spam issue there is the risk of lowering the reputation of all the sites perhaps present on the same machine.

We have reached the end of this episode of the Vlog with an exceptional guest, I thank Giorgio for participating in this exchange of opinions on web performance and SEO. I invite you to subscribe to the Host channel, but also to that of Giorgio Taverniti ;) and to activate the bell to be notified when we publish new content.

Thanks and see you in the next video.
